He also told that Nana Patekar was the first character artist, who had demanded Rs 1 crore for a role.

In a conversation with The Lalantop, Paresh Rawal recalled a funny incident, in which a producer was called to his house by Nana Patekar. He said, ‘There is a creator – I will not take his name. Nana asked her to come home one day. He asked- Do you eat mutton? He ate. Nana said- you ate, isn’t it? Now go and clean the utensils. He is Nana Patekar – Father. It is different, that soil is different.
Nana Patekar has acted in films in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil and Kannada languages in his career.
When Nana asked for 1 crore as character artist
Paresh Rawal explained that if an artist feels true connection, then he can also work for one rupee. But, if they are not interested, then even the huge amount cannot be celebrated to them. Giving the example of Nana Patekar, he said, ‘Nana Patekar is like this! He had asked for one crore rupees and there was a ruckus. Hero does not dare to ask, Nana Patekar asked and took it.

He also told the story of asking for one crore. Paresh Rawal said, ‘Nana had taken one crore rupees for a role and this film created a big stir in the industry. Even the lead hero did not demand so much. But Nana asked for and got him ‘. He also told that Nana Patekar used to ask for this amount in a very simple way ‘. Paresh told that Nana’s screen presence and credibility were so tremendous that the producers happily used to give his demanded amount.
