New Delhi: The Government of India awarded the Padma Bhushan Award posthumously to the late singer Pankaj Udhas. The veteran singer’s wife Farida took the award on her behalf. The fans and close friends of the late singer expressed happiness over receiving the award, but his wife Farida remembered him and started crying.
While talking to ANI, Farida had tears in her eyes. She said, ‘This is a sour-sweet moments for us. I wish they would be with us while taking prizes. Pankaj Udhas’s wife thanked everyone. She further said, ‘I am grateful to the Government of India. Pankaj Udhas was a popular singer of the Indian music world. He was famous among the people because of his ghazals. He sang all memorable songs and ghazals in many decades of singing career. Pankaj Udhas was awarded the Padma Shri Award in 2006 for his contribution to music.
