Indus Water Treaty: On 19 September 1960, there was an agreement between India and Pakistan to distribute the water of 6 rivers, called the Indus Water Treaty. Under the agreement, India got the right to three eastern rivers (Ravi, Beas and Sutlej), while Pakistan was given permission to use three western rivers (Indus, Jhelum and Chenab).

The purpose of the agreement: The aim of the Indus Water Agreement was that there should be no struggle over water in both countries and there should be no hindrance in farming. However, India always respected the treaty, while Pakistan has been continuously accused of supporting terrorism. India have had three wars with Pakistan, but India had never stopped water. But Pakistan is responsible for the terrorist attack in India every time.

There will now be a water crisis in Pakistan: 80% of Pakistan’s farming is dependent on the water of the Indus, Jhelum and Chenab rivers. Now the water crisis in Pakistan will deepen from India by stopping the water of these rivers. The economic condition there will deteriorate. Apart from this, Pakistan produces electricity from many dams and hydro projects. Lack of water can lead to a decline in power generation, which will affect economic and industrial activities.

2. Pakistanis will not be able to move due to the closure of Attari check post

Bilateral trade from Pakistan has been closed since the removal of Section 370 from Jammu and Kashmir in 2019. Through a third country, import-export between India and Pakistan is done. However, there is a transaction of small colonies between the two countries. Such as rock salt, leather face, multani mitti, copper face, mineral mills, wool and lime.

The closure of the attic check post will not only stop the movement of the people of Pakistan, but will not be able to export small goods to India. This will cause financial loss to small traders there.

Pakistani citizens who came to India have been given time till May 1 to return from this route. After this, he will not be able to return by this path.

3. 3. Terrorists’ arrival with visa service also closed

India has banned the visas of Pakistanis. Not only this, people of Pakistan will not be able to come to India with the SAARC Visa Rebate Scheme.

The purpose of the decision: Many people of Pakistan have a relationship in India. In such a situation, many times Pakistani people come to India as relatives. Apart from these, they come to India by pretending religious visits and carry out terrorist attacks. In such a situation, the closure of visa service will also stop the way of terrorists coming to India.

4. Remove Defense Advisors from High History

India has declared Pakistani Military, Navy and Air Advisors deployed at the Pakistani High Commusion located in New Delhi as unwanted persons. He has a week to leave India. By 1 May 2025, the number of employees posted in Pakistan’s highcoming will be reduced from 55 to 30. India has never closed the Pakistan Embassy in Delhi since independence.

5. Your Defense Advisors also called back

With the removal of Pakistan’s Defense Advisors, India will also call its military, Navy and air advisors back from the Indian High Commission in Islamabad. These posts will be considered canceled in the respective highcomations. 5 support staff of Service Advisors will also be called back from both the High Commissions.

Impact of both these decisions

  1. Military-diplomatic dialogue stalled: The return of Pakistani Defense Advisors in India will completely stop military level negotiations and connectivity between the two countries.
  2. The impact of the hyacharam will be less: The number of staff from 55 to 30 will reduce the functionality of the Pakistani High Commission and its diplomatic presence in India.
