Former Chief Justice of India, Justice (retired) Jagdish Singh Khehar was awarded the Padma Vibhushan.
President Draupadi Murmu is giving the Padma Awards of the second phase at Rashtrapati Bhavan. Among them, 68 celebrities including folk singer late Dr. Sharda Sinha are being honored. During this, PM Modi, Home Minister Amit Shah, Foreign Minister S Jaishankar are also present.
Earlier on April 28, 71 celebrities were awarded Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri in the first phase award ceremony. Of these, 4 Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Bhushan and 57 Padma Shri Awards were given.
The government announced 139 Padma Awards for 2025 before Republic Day. Among them, 13 celebrities including Sharda Sinha, Osamu Suzuki are being given posthumous awards posthumously.
19 celebrities have been selected for Padma Bhushan. 113 celebrities are to be honored with Padma Shri this time. The Padma Award winners are 23 women. Among them are 10 foreign/NRI/PIO/OCI people from the category.
President Draupadi Murmu honored Justice (retired) Jagdish Singh Khehar of Chandigarh with Padma Vibhushan in the field of public affairs. Retired Justice Khehar is one of the most reputed jurists in India.
