President Draupadi Murmu gave the Padma Awards for 2025 on Monday at Rashtrapati Bhavan. In the first Padma ceremony of the year, 71 celebrities were honored with Padma Vibhushan, Padma Bhushan and Padma Shri. While the rest of the celebrities will soon be honored in a separate ceremony. In the ceremony held on Monday, 4 Padma Vibhushan, 10 Padma Bhushan and 57 Padma Shri Awards were given.
In the field of art, South films actor Ajit and film director Shekhar Kapoor were awarded the Padma Bhushan. At the same time, Ghazal singer Pankaj Udhas was posthumously awarded the Padma Bhushan. The award was taken by his wife Farida.
Cricketer R Ashwin was given Padma Shri, hockey player Sreejesh was given Padma Bhushan. At the same time, Kuwait’s yoga teacher Shekha Ali was also awarded the Padma Shri in the medical field.
The government announced 139 Padma Awards for 2025 before Republic Day. Among them, 13 celebrities including Sharda Sinha, Osamu Suzuki are being given posthumous awards posthumously.
19 celebrities have been selected for Padma Bhushan. 113 celebrities are to be honored with Padma Shri this time. The Padma Award winners are 23 women. Among them are 10 foreign/NRI/PIO/OCI people from the category.
