Cancer Cases in India: According to an international research, 1.56 crore people born between 2008 and 2017 are at risk of getting gastric cancer at some time in life. Out of this, 16.5 lakh cases have been feared in India.

The prevention of gastric cancer can be reduced.
Highlights
- Cases of stomach cancer are increasing, which can be prevented.
- 76% of gastric cancer cases are related to Helicobacter Pylori bacteria.
- If the cancer is detected at the right time, it can be treated.
According to ET’s report The new study states that 76% of stomach cancer cases are caused by bacteria called Helicobacter Pylori. It is a normal bacteria, which remains in the stomach, but when it remains for a long time it causes infection. Later it can cause cancer. The good thing is that this bacteria can be prevented from treatment. According to global data, about 60% of the 1.56 crore people who are at risk of gastric cancer will be in Asia only. There is a possibility of 65 lakh new cases in India and China itself. This is a serious sign that we should change our health policies.
The new research also says that if there is no change in the current situation, then the rate of deaths and the number of cases will start increasing again in the coming years. Especially in the younger generation, the increase in cases of cancer and the elderly population can increase this danger further. Research scientists recommended that it is necessary to pay attention to large -scale screening and treatment of helicobacter pylori to prevent gastric cancer. If these measures are implemented seriously, then it is estimated that cases of gastric cancer can be reduced by up to 75%.
According to the recent study, even though the cases of gastric cancer in Sab-Sahara Africa are less, the situation there may also deteriorate in future. There can be six times more cases than in 2022. This means that every country will have to prepare from now on, so that generations to come can be saved from this deadly disease. In India too, there is a need to take necessary steps to prevent this cancer. This research on gastric cancer has been published in the Nature Medicine Journal.
