The government has renewed the National Security Advisory Board (NSAB). Alok Joshi, former head of Research and Analysis Wing (R& AW, Raw), has been made its new chairman.
The NSAB will also have 6 members. Among them are former officers of Army, Navy and Air Force. Also, former diplomat and former IPS officer have also been included in it.
The government has taken this decision in view of the Pahalgam terror attack. NSAB will input the National Security Council Secretariat.
This decision was taken in the Cabinet Committee (CCS) meeting on the security held on Wednesday under the chairmanship of PM Narendra Modi. Earlier, the CCS met on April 23, a day after the Pahalgam attack.
What is the National Security Advisory Board (NSAB) The first was formed in 1998. It was given the work of long -term strategic assessment. It was also decided that NSAB would advise the National Security Council (NSC) on important issues.
The board was formed once again in 2018. PS Raghavan, who was then ambassador to Russia, India, was made its head.
