Satna. The National Junior Khelo India Wushu Competition was organized at the National Security University in Gandhinagar, Gujarat under the joint aegis of the Sports Authority of India and the Wushu Union of India. 8 players from Madhya Pradesh participated in this competition. Among them, Satna’s Asmi performed brilliantly and won the silver medal in the Sanda (Fight) event. This was the only silver medal of this competition to Madhya Pradesh.
Dr. Sandeep Bharti. Coach, father too
Asmi’s coach and father Dr. Sandeep Bharti said in a conversation with Local 18 that he is very proud of his daughter. This success of Asmi is the result of his hard work and regular training. He said that Asmi has so far won a total of 20 medals in various martial arts competitions, including 7 gold. In the year 2024, she won the gold medal for Madhya Pradesh at SGFI Taekwondo National and she became the first player in the Vindhya region to do so. Apart from this, he also won the gold medal in the 25th Wushu National Federation Championship held in Coimbatore.
Start with karate now focus on Taekwondo
In a special conversation with Local 18, Asmi said that she is currently a student of class 11th and has been active in martial arts for the last 6 years. He started with karate but now his main focus is on Taekwondo. She does Vushu as a side game.
Dream of playing Olympics
Asmi says that she started martial arts from the age of 9 and has been continuously participating in external competitions since then. He gets inspiration and support from his family, especially his father. His dream is to represent India one day in the Olympics. This dream also belongs to his father.
