In Liverpool, Nikhat Zarine and Meenakshi made it to the quarter -finals of the World Boxing Championship, while Lakshya Chahar left France’s Yojelin Caesar.

Liverpool. The World Boxing Championship revealed good news for India. Two -time champion Nikhat Zarine won the quarter -finals on Tuesday, winning a tough match. Meenakshi, who is making her debut in the World Boxing Championship, made it to the final eight with an easy win. In a draw taking part in their first tournament after the Paris Olympics, non -seeded Nikhat won the women’s 51 kg in the pre -quarterfinal match in the pre -quarterfinal match.
Meenakshi, who achieved Bai in the first round, started her campaign with a excellent win of 5–0 in the 48 kg category against Wang Cupping of China which is a non-Olympic class. Nisinaka constantly harassed the Indian boxer and due to excessive hold, two points were cut. Both boxers made an aggressive start and proceeded with full intentions. Nikhat initially put some hooks but the Japanese boxer took a 3–2 lead.
