After meeting the Governor, BJP MLA Thokchom Radheshyam said- 44 MLAs are ready to form the government in Manipur, except Congress.
A new government is expected to be formed in Manipur by June 15. 10 state MLAs on Wednesday claimed to meet Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla and form the government. These include 8 MLAs of BJP, NPP and Independents.
One of these MLAs told Bhaskar, ‘The structure of the new government has been discussed. It is expected that a government will be formed by June 15. Meanwhile, the Assembly Speaker Satyavrat has left for Delhi on the call of the central leadership.
Manipur has 60 assembly seats. The majority figure to form the government is 31. President’s rule is in force in the state from 13 February.

Singh resigns on 9 February On 9 February, the then CM N Biren Singh, who led the BJP government, resigned. There was a lot of pressure on Biren Singh for not stopping the violence that lasted for more than one and a half years in the state.
Violence has been taking place between Kuki-Metai in Manipur since May 3, 2023. More than 300 people have died in these two years. More than 1500 were injured. More than 70 thousand people are displaced. More than 6 thousand FIRs have been registered. Opposition parties were constantly asking NDA questions on the issue of violence.

The then CM N Biren Singh of Manipur resigned on 9 February.
BJP has more MLAs than majority The 60 -seat Manipur Assembly currently has 59 MLAs. One seat is vacant due to the death of the MLA. BJP’s alliance has a total of 44 MLAs in NDA. These include 32 Maetai, three Manipuri Muslims and nine Naga MLAs.
At the same time, all five MLAs of Congress are Maetai. The remaining 10 MLAs are cookie, out of which seven were won on a BJP ticket in 2022 elections. The two cookies belong to the People’s Alliance and have an independent.

Rahul had said- PM should go to Manipur immediately After the resignation of N Biren Singh, Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi had said that despite violence, loss of life and property, PM Narendra Modi retained N Biren Singh, but now N Biren Singh was forced to resign due to increasing pressure from the people, investigation of the Supreme Court and Congress’s no-confidence motion.
In the X post, he said that the most important thing at this time is that peace should be restored in the state and the work of healing the wounds of the people of Manipur. PM Modi should immediately go to Manipur, listen to the people there and tell what they are planning to normalize the situation.
