Neeraj Chopra’s preparation to take revenge on Weber in Paris Diamond League.

Paris: Two -time Olympic medalist Neeraj Chopra, who has crossed the 90 -meter barrier, will be eyeing the first big title of the session, when he will present India’s challenge in the Paris Diamond League full of stars here on Friday.

In the second phase of the Diamond League, Chopra will also feature Julian Weber of Germany, Anderson Peters of Granada, a world champion, will also be in eight contenders. Of these, five have touched 90 meters.

Weber defeated Chopra in the Doha Diamond League on 16 May, in which Chopra threw a throw above 90 meters. Weber secured first place by throwing the last throw 91.06 meters. Chopra finished second with a throw of 90.23 meters.

The 31 -year -old Weber also defeated Chopra in the Januz Kusosinki Memorial Competition in Poland on 23 May. Weber threw a throw of 86.12 meters and Chopra 84.14 meters. Peters finished third in both.

In Paris, Chopra will have to revenge for both the previous defeats from Weber. He will play in the Paris stage of the Diamond League after eight years.

He did not participate in the Paris Diamond League to focus on the Olympics last year. He won a silver medal at the Paris Olympics with a throw of 89.45 meters. He last finished fifth by playing as a junior world champion in the Paris Diamond League in 2017.

Apart from Chopra and Weber, Peters have also crossed the 90 meter barrier in 2022. Kenya’s 2015 world champions Julius Yigo and Treenidad and 2012 Olympic gold medalist Keshorn Walcott are also included in the 90m club, who did this feat in 2015.

Apart from these, the Paris Diamond League will also participate in Brazil’s Louis Mauritiyo Dr. Silva, Adrian Maradare of Moldova and Remi Ruzte of France. After Paris Diamond League, Chopra will participate in the Golden Spike Athletics Meet in Ostrava, Czech Republic from June 24. After this, Neeraj Chopra will play classic in Bengaluru on July 5.
