New Delhi. Neeraj Chopra classic international spear throw competition, which was postponed last month due to military conflict between India and Pakistan, will now be held on July 5. The organizers announced this on Tuesday. For the first time in India, an international spear throw competition is being organized. Earlier this competition was to be held on 24 May. The competition is being organized by Chopra, who won two medals at the Olympics in collaboration with JSW Sports and it is approved from the Athletics Federation of India (AFI).

12 players will participate in this competition to be held at Shri Kantirwa Stadium. These include five Indian players including seven best javelin throw players and Chopra in the world. Apart from Chopra, other Indian players participating in this competition are Sachin Yadav, Kishore Jenna, Rohit Yadav and Sahil Silwal, the silver medalist of the Asian Championship.

According to the organizers, the ticket price for this competition will be from Rs 199 to Rs 9,999. Apart from this, five corporate boxes are available for 15 persons for Rs 44,999. A special stand near the thrower runway is priced at Rs 9,999, while another special stand is available in North Upper Stand, just behind the runway, for Rs 2,999.

Among the foreign players participating in this competition, two -time world champion Grenada’s Anderson Peters (individual best performance 93.07 meters), Germany’s 2016 Olympic gold winner Thomas Roaler (93.90 meters), Kenya’s 2015 World Champion Julius Yoo (92.72 meters), America’s Kartis Thompson (87.76 meters), The Asian Games bronze medalist Jenki Dean (84.28 m), Sri Lanka’s Ramesh Patheej (85.45 m) and Brazil’s Louiz Maurisio da Silva (86.34 meters).

Karan Yadav, Chief Commercial Officer of JSW Sports, said, “Neeraj Chopra Classic needed a very big collective effort and we are happy to confirm its event on July 5.” This competition, who was getting the status of category A from World Athletics, was to be held in Panchkula earlier but due to lack of adequate lighting for the broadcast, it was handed over to the Barengle.
