The Netherlands defeated India.
New Delhi. The Indian men’s hockey team lost the match against the Netherlands despite the initial lead. In the first match of the FIH Pro League’s Europe phase, Olympic champion lost 2–1 to the Netherlands on Saturday. Captain Harmanpreet Singh gave India an increase by staining the penalty corner in the 19th minute. But for the Netherlands, Theg Van Dam gave two field goals (25th and 58th minutes) to water the wins of India’s victory. India ranks third by scoring 15 points in eight matches in the domestic phase of the Pro League played in Bhubaneswar. The Indian team is eyeing the maximum points in the European phase to make a straight place in the next year’s World Cup in Belgium and Netherlands, but the beginning could not be with victory.
India now has to play from the Netherlands again on June 9. This is followed by Australia from Argentina on 11 and 12 June, Australia on 14 and 15 June and then from Belgium on 21 and 22 June.
