Pilot in the Indian Air Force will be the first Indian to visit Shubhanshu Shukla ISS and the second Indian to go to space.
The Axiom-4 mission has brought a ray of hope for patients with diabetes to travel to space. This is because UAE’s health service provider is doing a research on the behavior of glucose in Burjil Holdings Micrology. The rest of the people, including Indian astronaut Shubhanshu Shukla, will wear glucose monitors 14 days in the orbital lab as a part of the suit ride experiment under the Axiaom-4 mission.
Mohammad Fitayan, CMO of Abu Dhabi’s Burjil Holdings, told PTI that they are just trying to see if there is any change or fluctuation in the level of blood sugar while in space.
The study of the behavior of glucose and insulin in microgravity will help scientists to create wearable techniques for astronauts and patients who are able to do less movement due to diseases like bed or paralysis.
Apart from this, astronaut insulin pens will also be taken along, which will be kept in different temperatures, so that it can be seen what effect the insulin molecules are affected in microgravity.

No sugar patient has gone on space trip yet
The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) does not allow patients with insulin to go into space. Although there is no official prohibition for patients with not taking insulin, no sugar patient Astronaut has traveled to space yet.
Also during the Ex-Aom Mission-4 60 experiments are to be done, in which 7 Indian scientists have developed. This includes research projects such as germination of sprouts in microgravity, research on crop seeds, microgravity on algi and effect of radiation.
What can this research change
- Astronauts struggling with diabetes may increase the chances of getting the approval of the space mission in the future.
- AI based forecast models will be prepared that will be able to track insulin needs and metabolic changes in real time.
- This research can be helpful in improving diabetes care and tele-health service in remote areas.
- This research will also help in finding the development of new drugs that increase insulin sensitivity and drugs that have as much effect as sitting workouts.
Launching of mission postponed 6 times a month
On 29 May, 8 June, June 10, June 11, June 12 and 22, there was a launching schedule, but it was postponed indefinitely for reviewing the recent repair work in the rear of the ISS Zvezda service module and indefinitely for a security check.
Four Astronauts from four countries in Axiom-4 (AX-4) are going to visit space station for 14 days. Shubhanshu will be the first Indian to go to ISS and in space. Earlier, Rakesh Sharma traveled space in 1984 with a spacecraft of the Soviet Union.
