MS Dhoni defamation case: Mahi will give statement in 100 crores case, High Court has given big order

New Delhi. Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s path of hearing on the defamation case of Rs 100 crore has been opened after a long time. Dhoni had filed a case against 2 big media channels and a journalist to drag his name in the IPL betting case. The Madras High Court has ordered a hearing on the defamation case filed 11 years ago. Justice CV Karthikeyan has also appointed an Advocate Commissioner in this case. Dhoni will also record his statement in this matter. The betting case in the IPL took place in 2013.

Former Indian captain MS Dhoni will not have to appear in court during the hearing. There may be congestion when he comes to court. For this reason, Dhoni will record his statement only through video conferencing. MS Dhoni filed this case in 2014. Dhoni alleges that derogatory comments were made against him during a television debate on the IPL betting case. This has damaged his image.

According to a report by The Hindu, senior advocate PR Raman presented an affidavit on behalf of Dhoni. In this, there has been a demand to start the hearing of the case. This case has been pending for a decade because the concerned parties have been demanding relief at different times, due to which the hearing could not be started. MS Dhoni said in his affidavit, ‘The above request (starting hearing) has been made so that unnecessary delays can be avoided and the case can be fair, justified and disposed of quickly. I will fully cooperate with this and follow all the instructions issued by this court regarding hearing and filing evidence.
