Former Indian captain MS Dhoni will not have to appear in court during the hearing. There may be congestion when he comes to court. For this reason, Dhoni will record his statement only through video conferencing. MS Dhoni filed this case in 2014. Dhoni alleges that derogatory comments were made against him during a television debate on the IPL betting case. This has damaged his image.
According to a report by The Hindu, senior advocate PR Raman presented an affidavit on behalf of Dhoni. In this, there has been a demand to start the hearing of the case. This case has been pending for a decade because the concerned parties have been demanding relief at different times, due to which the hearing could not be started. MS Dhoni said in his affidavit, ‘The above request (starting hearing) has been made so that unnecessary delays can be avoided and the case can be fair, justified and disposed of quickly. I will fully cooperate with this and follow all the instructions issued by this court regarding hearing and filing evidence.
Cricket lovers know that in 2013, the case of spot fixing and betting came to light in the IPL. In this case, three cricketers including S Sreesanth were found guilty in spot fixing. All three were punished. Two franchisees from Chennai Super Kings and Rajasthan Royals were also found involved in betting. After this, both these franchises were suspended for two years. Dhoni was then the captain of Chennai Super Kings and the team’s biggest star. Therefore, fingers were raised on them too.
