The National Rifle Association of India has expressed confidence in Jaspal Rana and has made a high performance coach of 25 meter pistol, while Jeetu Rai will also be seen in a new role.

New Delhi. The National Rifle Association of India (NRAI) appointed veteran shooter Jaspal Rana as a high performance coach of 25 meter pistol. While Jeetu Rai has been made the coach of 10 meter air pistol. NRAI, the highest sports organization of shooting in the country, appointed several former shooters as the coach of the national team during his governing body meeting at the Constitution Club. Recently, Deepali Deshpande, who received the Dronacharya Award, has also been appointed as the head coach (rifle).
Overall, 16 new members have been appointed in the coaching team. While 19 members have been retained. These include a coordinator (Amar Jung Singh) and two coaches (Preeti Sharma and Anuja Jung) for deaf shooters. The prominent names which have been appointed as the new coach of the national team include veteran pistol shooter Jeetu (10 meter air pistol), former international players Pooja Ghatkar (10m air rifle), Pemba Tamang (25m Pistol), Amarinder Cheema (Skit) and Varsha Tomar (Trap).

Mansher Singh and Raunak Pandit also a big responsibility
Mansher Singh and Raunak Pandit have also been appointed as High Performance Director for Shotgun and Pistol Shooting respectively. Apart from Rana, D.S. Chandel (Air Rifle), Anwar Sultan (Trap) and Manoj Kumar (50m rifle) are included. Veteran Vikram Chopra (Shotgun) and Samaresh Jung (pistol) have been retained in their positions.

Some important decisions were made in the meeting regarding the Indian Shooting League. These include appointing former Chief Executive Officer of Hockey India Elena Norman as advisor to the league. Rana has been a veteran pistol shooter of his time. He won three gold medals at the Asian Games in 2006. In the Olympics last year, Manu Bhaker created history in Indian Games on two medals victory under his supervision itself.
