The Maetai organization Cocomi siege the Raj Bhavan in Imphal against the President’s rule in Manipur from 13 February. A large number of protesters tried to enter the Raj Bhavan, due to which the security forces stopped the protesters near the M Sector Gate.
The protesters were demanding forgiveness from the Governor of Manipur for the incident of Gwalatabi. During this time 7 protesters have suffered injuries. He has been admitted to RIMS Hospital.
Here, a 7 -member delegation of the Metai Group bodies Cocomi will meet the officials of the Ministry of Home Affairs in Delhi on Tuesday. At the same time, in the current situation of Manipur and the controversy on the state’s name on the government bus in Gwalatabi will discuss the dispute.
Convenor Khurajam Athauba said that Manipur is going through a turbulent phase, a popular government is needed. The popular government understands the values and ethos of the local people.
Convenor of Kokomi Sangathan said- used force on unarmed
Atauba also expressed concern over the use of force by security personnel on unarmed people protesting against the incident in Imphal. He said, “The use of such aggressive control against unarmed citizens, many of whom, is extremely worrying. Which is wrong for a democratic and sensitive administration. During this time many women protesters are not allowed to hurt.”
Controversy started on covering ‘Manipur’ written on bus
The dispute came to light on 20 May in Manipur. When the security forces on the Gwalatabi checkpost of Imphal East stopped the Manipur state transport bus carrying journalists and said covering the word Manipur written on the bus. This bus was taking journalists for coverage of the ongoing Shirui Lily Festival in Ukharul.
Considering it to be a shock to the regional identity of Manipur, the Metai community organization Kokomi lodged a protest. Cocomi called a 48 -hour bandh in protest against this, affecting life in 5 districts of the Imphal Valley.
The agenda of the meeting includes Governor Ajay Kumar Bhalla to publicly apologize and remove the Chief Secretary, DGP and security advisor on the Gwalatabi incident. Authang claims that the situation has worsened due to the failure of these officials and making anti -state decisions.
CM Biren resigns on 9 February
Manipur CM N Biren Singh resigned on 9 February. Biren Singh was under considerable pressure due to the violence in the state for 21 months. Opposition parties were also constantly asking NDA questions on the issue. The term of the state assembly was up to 2027, which was suspended. The Center implemented President’s rule in Manipur on 13 February.
