New Delhi. India’s veteran badminton player Kidambi Srikant (Kidambi Srikant) entered the semi -finals of the Malaysia Masters Badminton tournament by winning three games over France’s Toma Junior Popov of his highest ranking on Friday 23 May.
Srikanth, who held the 65th rankings, defeated the world number 18 Popov in the quarterfinal 24-22 17-21 22-20 in an hour 14 minutes. Now former number one player Srikanth will face Tanaka in Japan in the final four. Tanaka defeated Toma Junior’s brother Christo Popov 21-18 16-21 21-6 in the men’s singles quarterfinal on Saturday. The second semi -final of the men’s singles will be played between Japan’s fourth seed Kodai Naroka and China’s second seed Lyg Feng.
The mixed doubles pair of Dhruv Kapila and Tanisha Krasto were out after losing in the quarterfinals on Friday, which survived the only Indian in the BWF World Tour Super 500 tournament. Kapila and Krasto presented a tough challenge in the first game of China’s top seed Jiang Zen Bang and Wei or Jin, but lost the rhythm and lost 22-24 13-21 in the match that lasted 35 minutes.
