Mahendra Gurjar of India set a world record in Jewelin Throw F42.
New Delhi. Mahendra Gurjar of India has won the gold medal of the Jewelin Throw F42 category at Notvil World Para Athletics Grandri in Switzerland. Mahendra Gurjar threw 61.17 meters of Javelin and made gold by making a world record. The 27 -year -old Indian player improved the 59.19 meter previous world record in 2022 by Brazil’s Roberto Floriani Adenylson.
Mahendra Gurjar in his third attempt threw the spear to the second world record of 61.17 meters. His first two attempts were 56.11 and 55.51 meters. On Sunday, his last three throw were 58.54 meters, 57.25 meters and 58.07 meters. The F42 square is for players whose one leg movement is moderately affected.
Sumit Anti, who won the gold medal twice in the Paralympics and world record holder Sumit Anthil also secured the first place with an effort of 72.35 meters in the men’s spear throw F64 category. The F64 square is for athletes that have a minor movement or not organ in one or both legs.
Mahendra participated in a joint competition with para athletes of F40, F57, F63 and F64. Mahendra’s coach Samarjit Singh Malhi told PTI from Switzerland, ‘It was a joint competition in which para athletes of other classes also participated. Mahendra won the gold medal in F42 and also set a world record in the same category. He said, “It is common for different class para athletes to compete in a joint competition.”
This is Mahendra’s second gold in the Grand Competition. He also topped the podium in a long jump T42 event with an effort of 5.59 meters on 23 May. Malhi said, ‘Apart from the javelin throw, we have also started long jump. This is the first competition in his (Mahendra’s) long jump T42 and after this gold he will become the number one player in Asia.
