The Bombay High Court on Wednesday dismissed the petition filed for the disturbances in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024. The court said- The court’s time has been wasted in the hearing of the petition. However, no fine has been imposed on the petitioner.
Justice GS Kulkarni and Arif Doctor’s bench said- There is no concrete basis in this petition. In such a situation, we dismiss it. The petitioner had alleged that more than 75 lakh votes were cast after 6 pm in the election. Together, the election process was demanded to be declared illegal.

Mahayuti formed the government by winning 230 seats in the Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024. BJP won 132 seats, Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde) 57 and NCP (Ajit Pawar) won 41 seats. The Congress -led Mahavikas Aghadi (MVA) was reduced to 46 seats. Devendra Fadnavis became the Chief Minister.
What is the whole matter Prakash Ambedkar, the leader of the disadvantaged Bahujan Aghadi, had filed a petition against the alleged irregularities in the election. At the same time, Mumbai resident Chetan Chandrakant Ahire had alleged that a large number of votes were cast after 6 pm in the assembly elections held on 20 November 2024, which is a sign of disturbances in the electoral process.
It was claimed in the petition that more than 75 lakh votes were cast after 6 pm. Ahire had demanded from the court that the election results declared in all 288 assembly seats in the state should be canceled. At the same time, it was alleged that there is a difference in more than 90 assembly seats and counted votes.
Election Commission said- no right to challenge election results On behalf of the Election Commission, Senior Advocate Ashutosh Kumbhkoni said- The petitioner has no right to challenge the results of the state. He also told that the petitioner did not make any winning candidate a party.
Advocate Uday Varunjikar on behalf of the central government said- If someone has objections to the election process, then an election petition has to be filed under the Representation of the People Act, which should be filed within 45 days of the result. Ahire filed a writ petition, it is also outside the deadline.
Election Commission talks with Rahul Gandhi on allegations of disturbances in Maharashtra elections

The Election Commission (EC) wrote a letter to Congress leader Rahul Gandhi. It has been invited to discuss his allegations of rigging in Maharashtra assembly elections. According to ANI, the letter has also been sent to Mail and Rahul’s residence on 12 June.
The EC wrote in the letter- Electoral law, its rules passed by the Parliament of India and the instructions of the Election Commission from time to time are very strictly conducted in the country. The Maharashtra assembly election process is conducted centralized at the assembly constituency level.
