New study on covid infection: In many countries of the world including India, cases of corona infection are increasing rapidly. There are more than 1200 Kovid active cases in the country and experts have advised people to follow Kovid protocols. A new research has come to light about this amidst the increasing threat of Kovid, which is connected to children. In this new study, it has been found that about 15 percent of the young children are being affected by long covid. Long Kovid means that after the infection in the child, some symptoms should remain continuously for at least three months. These symptoms vary according to their age.

The study was done between March 2022 to July 2024 and a total of 1011 children were included. Symptoms of long covid were seen in 14 percent out of 278 children younger than two years and 399 children aged three to five years. It is clear that this problem is being seen in young children of every age group. The study also found that the symptoms of long covid vary according to age. The main symptoms in children under two years of age were sleep problems, irritability, loss of appetite, closed nose and cough. At the same time, dry cough was seen in children between three and five years old and more lack of fatigue or energy during the day. Overall, 74 percent of the prescript children complained of cough.

In older children, the symptoms of long covid are quite different from young children. School -going children have mostly neurological problems, such as difficulty in focusing, problems in sleep, dizziness, as well as physical symptoms such as headache, abdominal pain, vomiting or back and neck pain. Changes in behavior are also seen in some cases. Researcher Dr. Tony Thaweethi of Massachusetts General Hospital, USA, said that this study is important because it shows that long children have long covered symptoms different from older children and adults.

The expert said that young children are unable to make their own problems, so their symptoms are understood based on the observation of their care. Such symptoms can affect children’s health, quality of life and development. Therefore, more research is needed on the effect of Kovid on young children. Actually, the immunity of children is not fully developed and this is the reason that the risk of covid infection is more to young children. Doctors recommend taking special care of these children.

Now the question is, how to protect young children from Kovid infection? On this, doctors say that cleanliness and caution is very important to protect young children from covid infection. Wash children’s hands repeatedly with soap and prevent them from touching the eye, nose and mouth. Avoid moving to crowded places. If someone is ill in the house, keep him away from the child. Keep children’s toys and surrounding things clean. Give a balanced diet so that their immunity remains strong. If you see symptoms like cough, fever or difficulty in breathing, contact the doctor immediately and follow the advice of the doctor.
