ISKCON Kolkata told that there was a problem in running the chariot during the journey last year. The organizers were looking for new tires for 15 years. Till now old tires of Boeing aircraft were used, but now they are getting difficult to meet in the market.

The organizers then decided to apply the tires of Sukhoi Jet in the chariot, as its diameter is similar to the tires of Boeing. These days these tires are being fitted on the chariot. The organizers said- This time the chariot will run on the tires of Sukhoi jet on the streets of Kolkata.

The Jagannath Rath Yatra begins every year on the second date of Shukla Paksha and the journey ends with the return of Jagannath ji on the 11th day of Shukla Paksha. This date falls in June or July. This time the Rath Yatra will start from June 27. It will last for 8 days. Will end on 5 July.

In Kolkata, ISKCON has organized the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath since 1972. It is an ancient Vaishnava festival there.
