New Delhi. Hyderabad Cricket Association (HCA) president A Jagan Mohan Rao and 4 others have been arrested by Telangana CID. Jagan Mohan Rao and 4 others have been detained for questioning in connection with the allegations against Sunrisers Hyderabad and others during the 2025 IPL session. The police gave this information on Wednesday. A senior police officer said that HCA officials, including Jagan Mohan Rao, Treasurer C Srinivas Rao, CEO Sunil Kant, and his wife Ji Kavita, were detained for questioning.

Earlier, Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy ordered an inquiry into the plea of Sunrisers Hyderabad seeking intervention of cricket operating institutions to prevent the ‘Blackmailing Strategy’ being repeated by HCA. However, the state unit denied all such allegations made by the franchise. In a letter to the Cricket Board of India (BCCI) and the Indian Premier League (IPL) Governing Council, Sunrisers Hyderabad alleged that HCA is ‘threatening’ for a ticket (free pass) to the franchise.

During the IPL in March this year, Sunrisers Hyderabad, owned by Kavya Maran, sought help from the BCCI and IPL Governing Council to stop the continuous ‘Blackmailing’ of Hyderabad Cricket Association. The state association had rejected these allegations of franchisees. The Sunrisers said in an email to the top BCCI officials that if the HCA continues to threaten in this way, especially for free pass, then they can consider holding their home matches in another state.

A top official of Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) wrote, ‘I am writing this letter expressing concern over HCA’s frequent blackmailing about Sunrisers Hyderabad team. This is happening again and again and I think now BCCI and IPL Governing Council should take prompt action. The official said that the franchise needed clarity regarding the allocation of free passes to the Sangh. Usually five percent of the total tickets are given.
