In this concert, he said something that did not like the Kannada community at all and the matter reached the police. A pro -Kannada organization has filed a police complaint against him.
The organization has alleged against Sonu Nigam that the words of the famous singer have hurt the sentiments of the Kannada community and have promoted hatred. The incident took place on 25 April 2025, East Point College of Engineering and Technology located in Vargonagar, Bangalore.

He linked the demand for singing a simple Kannada to a terrorist incident in Pahalgam, which people described as insensitive and non-essential.
What was said in the complaint
The Bengaluru district unit of Karnataka Rakshan Vedike (KRV) filed a police complaint on Friday. The organization alleged that Sonu’s statement hurt the sentiments of the Kannada community, promoted enmity among linguistic groups and created a possibility of inciting violence in the region. The complaint said, ‘This statement is not only insensitive, but also dangerous. By linking a cultural demand to the terrorist incident, Sonu Nigam showed the Kannada community intolerant, which threatened linguistic hatred and communal harmony.
