New Delhi: Kamal Haasan was stuck in a big controversy recently. The superstar took part in the ‘Thug Life’ audio launch event in Chennai, where he made a statement connecting the origin of Kannada language to Tamil. He had said, ‘Star Shivrajkumar is a member of my family who live in another state. So he is here. So when I started my speech, I said- my life and my family is Tamil. Your language (Kannada) has originated from Tamil. So you are involved in that line. Kamal Haasan has reacted on ‘Kannada-Tamil dispute’.
The star while talking to reporters reacted to the controversy and said that he meant ‘nothing’. According to the report of PTI, Kamal Haasan said that he had spoken with great love. ‘I think what I said with great love. Historians have taught me the history of language. I meant nothing. Let me tell you, Tamil Nadu is a place that has always been open. I do not say that there is no such state. But there is a very rare state, where a Menon (MG Ramachandran) has been our Chief Minister. One Reddy (Omandur Ramasamy Reddiyar) has been our Chief Minister, a Tamilian (M Karunanidhi) has been our Chief Minister and then a Kannadiga Iyengar has been our Chief Minister from Mandya.
Star further said, ‘Discussions are left to historians, archaeologists and language experts. If you look at it from the perspective of North, then according to him it is right, if you look at it with Tankumari (South), what I say is right. It also has a third side – scholar, language expert. This is no answer, a cleaning. Love will never apologize. Star’s comment went viral rapidly and got reactions from Proknada groups in Karnataka. He not only demanded apology from Kamal Haasan, but also demanded a ban on his next film. Kamal Haasan is currently getting ready for the release of ‘Thug Life’. The film follows the story of Rangaraya Shaktivale, who is the leader of a ruthless gang played by Kamal Haasan and his brother Manikam.
