Kamal Haasan made a controversial statement about Kannada during the audio launch event of his new film Thug Life in Chennai on 24 May.
The Supreme Court has expressed strong displeasure over actor Kamal Haasan’s film Thg Life not being released in Karnataka. The court said that no one can be prevented from watching the film by pointing a gun on the heads of the people.
A bench of Justice Ujjal Bhuiyan and Justice Manmohan told the Karnataka government that when a film has received a certificate from the censor board, it should be shown in every state of the country. The court has given the state government one day time to clear the situation on the release of the film.
Actually, the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce (KFCC) demanded that the film will not be released until Haasan apologizes. Now the Supreme Court has sought a response from the state government on this issue and has transferred the proceedings of the High Court with them. The next hearing will be held on Thursday.

The court also objected to the Karnataka High Court’s remarks in which apologizing to Haasan. The Supreme Court said that it is not appropriate for the High Court to ask Haasan to apologize. The film Thg was released nationwide on 5 June, but was not allowed to be released in Karnataka.
Haasan said- Tamils lost their lives for language, do not play with it
On February 21, actor Kamal Haasan had said- Tamil language is his cultural identity over the Tri Language (Tamil, Hindi and English) controversy. People have lost their lives for this. Do not play with it.

Under NEP 2020, students must learn three languages, but no language has been made mandatory. States and schools have the freedom to decide which three languages they want to teach. There is no provision for the imperative of any language.
It has been recommended to study in primary classes (class 1 to 5) in mother tongue or local language. At the same time, it is mandatory to study three languages in middle classes (class 6 to 10). The non-Hindi speaking state will have English or a modern Indian language. If the second and 12th school wants to give foreign language as an alternative.
Hindi second language among non-Hindi speaking states
The emphasis is on studying classes up to 5th and where possible in the mother tongue, local or regional language. At the same time, Hindi can be taught as a second language in non-Hindi speaking states. Also, in Hindi speaking states, there may be another Indian language (eg Tamil, Bengali, Telugu etc.) as a second language.
