Justice Yashwant Verma found a three -member panel of the Supreme Court in the case that the store room in which the burnt cash was found after the fire was in the possession of Justice Verma and his family.

This has been revealed on the basis of electronic evidence, witnesses and investigation of the bungalow. The report said that the cash was also removed from the store room after the fire at around 11:35 pm on March 14, 2025.

The panel recorded statements of more than 50 people. These included Delhi Police Commissioner Sanjay Arora and head of Delhi Fire Service. Both officers were first among those who reached the spot after the fire.

The then Delhi High Court judge Justice Verma’s house in Lutyens Delhi was on fire on the night of 14 March. Sacks filled with bundles of 500-500 rupees were found from his store room.

The then CJI Sanjeev Khanna made a panel on 22 March to investigate the case. The panel submitted its report to CJI on 4 May. In this, Justice Verma was convicted.

Based on the report, CJI has recommended action against Justice Verma under the ‘In-House Procedure’.
