New Delhi. After the brilliant bowling of fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah, India took a lead of 96 runs in the second innings on the third day of the first Test match on the strength of KL Rahul’s strong batting. Opener Lokesh Rahul (47, 75 balls, seven fours) and Sai Sudarshan (30) added 66 runs for the second wicket. But England captain Ben Stokes (18/1) broke the partnership by catching Sudarshan at the hands of Jack Caruli shortly before the day’s play was over. When the premature day’s game was finished due to rain, captain Shubman Gill was playing with Rahul by scoring 6 runs.
Jasprit Bumrah took 5 wickets in shock innings for 14th time
India’s start in second innings was poor
India had a poor start in the second innings and Yashasvi Jaiswal, who scored a century in the first innings, caught wicketkeeper Jamie Smith off Bordon Cars in the fourth over after scoring just four runs. Openers Rahul and Sudarshan then handled the innings. Rahul started with two fours on Vox while Sudarshan returned to the pavilion without scoring in the first innings, opened his run account in Test cricket with fours on cars. Both Rahul and Sudarshan batted carefully. Rahul also hit two fours on cars in the 10th over and then completed the team’s half -century in the 13th over with fours on Shoaib Bashir.
Sudarshan hit Ben Stokes but was lucky at the score of 24 runs when Ben Docket dripped his catch at the backward point off Josh Tung. Sudarshan, however, could not take advantage of this and caught Caruli on a short mid -wicket off Stokes. Earlier, in the first two seasons, England batsmen scored fast. The team scored 138 runs after losing five wickets in 23.4 overs in the second session after scoring 118 runs in 28 overs in the morning session.

The famous dismissed Jamie Smith (40) and Brook on a short ball but failed to curb his 20 -over bowling. Bowling all -rounder Shardul Thakur bowled only six overs, which has raised questions on his selection. Bumrah was India’s best bowler throughout the innings. He took five or more wickets in the innings for the 14th time in Test cricket. India’s fielding in the match has been its weakest link so far. Brook was given a second life by Yashasvi Jaiswal off Bumrah for 82 runs.
Harry Brook dismissed by scoring 99 runs
Brook, however, could not score a century by taking advantage of these occasions and caught Shardul off the famous ball of 99 runs in the 88th over. India took a new ball after 80 overs but the team could not use it well.
