India’s Elavenil Valarivan won a bronze medal in the Women’s 10 meter air rifle at the ISSF World Cup. Wang Jifi of China won gold and Quon Yunji of Korea won the silver medal.

Munich: India’s legendary shooter Elavenil Valarivan had to be content with the bronze medal despite being at the top of the women’s 10m air rifle final on the first day of the competitions at the ISSF World Cup here on Tuesday.
Elavenil started with 10.7 points in the final and then scored 10.8 points in its next attempt.
Elavenil, who finished fourth in the 2018 World Cup in 2018, retained her lead with 10.7 points. However, the Indian shooter slipped to third place with 9.8 points and finally had to be satisfied with the bronze medal.
Yunji was fourth with 635.6 points in the qualification while Turkish Elf Berphin Altun (634.6) finished fifth. China’s World and Asian champion Hen Juayu finished sixth with 634.2 points and made it to the finals.
India’s national champion Ananya Naidu stood at 15th position with 632.4 points. Ramita Jindal, who is presenting a challenge for the ranking points only, finished 13th with 632.6 points. Meghna Sajanar (only ranking points) and Arya Borsse finished 25th and 60th respectively.
