Israeli scientists discover immune system oral tolerance mechanisms in research | Why does the immune system not attack food? Scientists gained information about cells fighting diseases

Immune cells: Why does the immune system not attack food? To know this, Iryali scientists completed their research. For this, scientists have detected certain immune cells (cells fighting diseases). These cells help us digest food and do not allow the body to suffer any harm. According to the news agency Xinhua, this discovery of researchers at the Wizman Institute of Science (WIS) will help to understand why our body considers food harmless and why not attack it. This is called ‘oral tolerance’. This important system prevents inflammation from daily foods and helps the immune system to fight infection.

Helpful in finding treatment for diseases caused by food

This new discovery can help in finding new treatment for diseases like allergies, sensitivity and celiac disease. After understanding the way this system is working, scientists hope that when the body accidentally attacks the food, what is wrong.

Explained the new discovery by giving examples from experts

– Dr. Ranit Kedmi of Wisman’s System Immunology Department said, “The immune system (immunity) of our body also works on such principles, such as if an attacker shoots from across the border, he will be immediately neutralized despite peace agreements.”

– For a long time, scientists believed that some immune cells called dendritic cells are responsible for ‘oral tolerance’. However, when these cells were removed in studies conducted on animals, the body used to tolerate food.

-Now, researchers at WIS have identified another group of immune cells, called ROR-Gama-T cells, and who are the real drivers of this process.

– These rare cells begin a series of reactions by incorporating four different types of cells, which eventually prevent the body’s attacking cells, called CD8 cells, from reacting to food.

– When this system fails, it can cause food allergies, sensitivity or diseases, where the body defense system accidentally attacks food protein, such as gluten.

– Researchers also found that during infection, the immune system may temporarily sideline ‘food tolerance’ to fight microorganisms.

– Kedmi said, “Obviously, the division of labor in the immune system is much higher than before. It is not that dendritic cells always decide whether to attack external substances or not, rather, there are some different types of cells that have to start a system that we can eat safely.”
