New Delhi. East Zone captain Ishaan Kishan has dropped out of the Dalip Trophy 2025 on Sunday (August 17). 27-year-old wicketkeeper-batsman was appointed as captain of the East Zone a few weeks ago, but now he will not be able to participate in the six teams tournaments starting in Bengaluru from August 28. 20 -year -old Odisha wicketkeeper Ashirwad Swain has been selected in place of Ishaan.
The Odisha Cricket Association confirmed this news on X. “Odisha’s wicketkeeper-batsman Ashirvad Swain has been selected for the East Zone team in the Dalip Trophy, who will replace Ishaan Kishan! He will join the team with Sandeep Patnaik, while Swastik is named as a standby.”
Ishaan, who made her debut for India on 14 March 2021 against England in Ahmedabad, has played two Tests, 27 ODIs and 32 T20 Internationals since then. He last played a competitive match against the Samarset for Nottinghamshire in Tonon from 29 June to 2 July, in which he scored 77 runs as number 6 batsman.
In the absence of Ishaan, Bengal batsman Abhimanyu Ishwaran will now captain the team of East Zone. 29-year-old right-handed batsman Abhimanyu, who has so far scored 7841 runs in 103 first-class matches. He was appointed as the vice-captain of Ishaan for the Dalip Trophy.
