India’s Para Parvalifter Athletes made a great start on the first day of the Powerlifting World Cup 2025. On the first day, India received a total of 4 medals including one gold, one silver and 2 bronze.

India’s great start in the Powerlifting World Cup.

Beijing. India performed strongly by winning 4 medals including a gold, one silver and two bronze on the first day of the Beijing Para Powerlifting World Cup. Top paragorldors of more than 40 countries are participating in the tournament. And it is a qualifying competition of 2026 World Championships and 2028 Paralympic Games.

Gulfam Ahmed opened India’s account with a bronze medal in the highly competitive men’s elite 59 kg category. He lifted 145 kg weight in his first attempt and then performed 151 kg the best in his second attempt. Gulfam’s third attempt of 153 kg was rejected but their second attempt was enough to get India the first medal of the tournament.
In the men’s elite 72 kg category, Ramubhai Bambhwa in his first attempt added another bronze to India’s account by lifting 151 kg. Although his next two attempts of 155 and 156 kg were not valid, the initial attempt gave him a place on the podium.
