The Indian women’s junior hockey team lost 1-3 in a shootout against Chile in a four-country tournament in Argentina. Sukhvir Kaur and Kanika Sivach scored goals. India will now face Uruguay.

New Delhi: The Indian women’s junior hockey team suffered a 1-3 defeat in the shootout against Chile after leaving a regular time in four countries’ Friendship Hockey Tournament in Rosario, Argentina.
Sukhveer Kaur (35th minute) and Kanika Siwach (47th minute) scored for India, while Jacinta Solari (27th minute) and captain Laura Muller (42nd minutes) scored for Chile.
Chile scored a goal of Solari on a penalty corner in the second quarter, but India scored a goal in the third quarter within five minutes. Sukhveer redeemed the penalty corner and equaled India.
In the 42nd minute, Chile again gained an edge with Muller’s field goal. India made a strong start of the fourth quarter. Kanika Sivach continued to impress in the tournament by scoring a single goal in the 47th minute.
No team could become the winner within the stipulated time, so the match went to shootout. In the shootout, Josephina Constance Gutirez, Isabel Leonore Messen and Trinidad Antonia Barios scored goals for Chile while Sonam could score only for India. India will now face Uruguay on June 1 in their fifth match of the tournament.
