New Delhi: Indian Para Badminton players won a total of 19 medals in the sixth Fraze Para Badminton International Tournament here, including one gold, four silver and 14 bronze.
The pair of Shivarajan Soolimalai and Sudarshan Saravankumar Muthusamy won the only gold medal in the championship. The pair on Sunday received a walkover from their top seeded rivals Hong Kong’s Chu Maan Kai and Wong Chun Yim in the men’s doubles SH6 final.
Veteran Umesh Vikram Kumar won the silver medal in his standing lower SL3 singles and two in the men’s doubles finals, while Hardik Makkad and Ruthik Raghupati pair of men’s doubles Standing Upu 5 finals lost to top seed Malaysian Chi Hai Laik and Muhammad Ferrics Anwar.
Tokyo Paralympic champion Krishna Nagar won a bronze medal after losing to Brazil’s Vitor Tever in the semi -finals. He dedicated his medal to the Indian armed forces and said, ‘This medal is for those brave men and women in uniforms who are working hard day and night to protect our country.
