New Delhi. Angered by India’s falling performance on the football ground, former captain Bichung Bhutia has accused the National Federation of destroying the game while some other stakeholders described the existing system as ‘rotten’ and ‘ego’. Bhutia’s spicy attack on All India Football Federation (AIFF) and its president Kalyan Chaubey came a day after a shocking defeat against the lower ranked Hong Kong in the third round of the AFC Asian Cup qualifier.
Bhutia said, “Kalyan Chaubey has ruined Indian football. Chaubey should resign and leave. They have completely ruined it. Three general secretary in two and a half years – the entire structure, system will have to be changed. You are giving 42 lakh rupees for a match. Why was it not added to qualification? This shows how unknown the management is.
He said, “This is completely unacceptable- it is not enough under any circumstances- AIFF needs intensive introspection. This is not what all of us Indian football lovers and supporters have spent their hard earned money and efforts to see. The time has come to apply a manager and a system that works. ”This defeat is likely to slip to the 133rd position of the country in the FIFA rankings.
