Archery World Cup 2025: India won a bronze medal at the Archery World Cup in Obernadeel. The team of Abhishek Verma, Ojas Devtale and Rishabh Yadav defeated Denmark 230-223.

Oberndel (US): India opened its account in the table with a bronze medal in the Compound men’s team event of the first archery World Cup Phase one before the session here on Wednesday. The Indian team of Abhishek Verma, Ojas Devtale and Rishabh Yadav dominated from the beginning and easily defeated Denmark 230-223 in a unilateral bronze medal match.
Indian archery secured podium place on the historic day as the International Olympic Committee announced the inclusion of compound mixed team events at the Los Angeles 2028 Olympic program. This step is being seen as a ‘game-changer’ for the country’s Olympic expectations.
Indian archers defeated Denmark’s current European champions Mathius Fulrtan, Rasamsams Bramson and Martin Damsbo’s team 230–223 in the match for the bronze medal. The Indian team was ahead of 115–114 on the halfway stage by one point, but then took three x and four out of the remaining 12 shots and took a lead of seven points finally.
India had earlier defeated Guatemala 220-218 in the quarter-finals, but lost to Italy by a slight margin in the semi-finals. After four sets, both teams were on par at 219, in which Italy won 29–27 in the shoot-off and on Saturday set a match for the gold medal against the host America. Archery World Cup 2025 Step 1 in Obernadeel will conclude on Sunday.
Meanwhile, the Indian women’s compound team did not compete on Wednesday, because only Jyoti Surekha Vannam was able to go to the USA. His team’s companions Madhura Dhamangaonkar, Chikitha Taniparthi and Aditi Swami missed due to visa issues.
India’s most successful World Cup archer Deepika Kumari and her husband Atanu Das are in action in the ongoing event in Recurve Archery with 36 medals. The Archery World Cup consists of four stages held in various countries.
