India Pakistan Asia Cup: Aditya Thackeray criticized the BCCI and the Center on the India vs Pakistan match in the Asia Cup, called it a greed for money and appealed to boycott the match.

Responding to criticism, Maharashtra Minister Ashish Shelar said that international sports events cannot be affected by bilateral political deadlocks. Aditya Thackeray said that all this is happening for money. Attacking the BCCI and the Center, he said, “Pakistan which launched countless attacks on our country, Pakistan which spreads terrorism in our country, which erased many vermilion in Pahalgam… Why is it so eager to play BCCI with that Pakistan? Is it happening in the greed of money?”
Maharashtra Congress spokesperson Sachin Sawant told ‘PTI’ that permission for this cricket match is a diplomatic failure and Pahalgam is an insult to the martyred soldiers of those killed in the terrorist attack. Rankapa (SP) spokesperson Jitendra Awhad told ‘PTI’, “This cricket match has exposed the government and the ruling party’s double standards, whose politics revolves around India-Pakistan.”
Meanwhile, BJP Minister Shelar, who is also a representative of BCCI in the Asia Cricket Council Board, accused Shiv Sena (Ubatha) MP Sanjay Raut of taking an “anti -India” stand on the issue. He said, “Our stand has always been clear that the Indian cricket team will not visit Pakistan and Pakistan’s team will not come to India. However, we cannot stop our team from playing or participating in an international tournament. How is this a stand?” Shelar said, “Those who are now opposing India’s match should remember that (late Shiv Sena founder) Balasaheb Thackeray had hosted Miandad at his residence.”
