New Delhi. The recently concluded India-e-England Lions’ informal Test series of two matches was a good start for the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar series. Two domestic matches have revealed many big things. Shardul Thakur vs Nitish Reddy’s dilemma, Karun Nair form, KL Rahul’s brilliant century and lack of match practice for Indian bowlers of the main team have affected everyone. Amidst all this, Dhruv Jurlel, who remained quiet, has introduced a strong claim for himself.
Jurail’s fire
Jurael has done this wonderful. He has not only scored runs on the seaming track against England Lions, but has done so with technology and readiness. His strike rate of 75.67 was the best among the batsmen scoring at least 200 runs. These characteristics appear differently in English conditions. His 94 -run innings from 120 balls in Canterbury came when a brilliant partnership between Sarfaraz Khan and Nair broke. Then, Jurael shared a 195 -run partnership with Nair. In the second innings, he scored an unbeaten 53 off one run per ball. His recent 52 -run innings in Northampton once again reminded him of his tremendous form.
Can Jurlel play as specialist batsman as specialist batsman?
The team management can consider feeding Jurael as an expert batsman at number 6 as an alternative by team management. This is not new, because India has used expert batsman at this place earlier, especially on foreign tours, where the depth of batting is given priority.
Ravindra Jadeja can still maintain a balanced combination with Jurlel, adding the power of the lower order on number 7 and Shardul Thakur number 8. However, Jurael’s involvement means that one of the Sai Sudarshan or Karun Nair will have to wait for his opportunity. Given that Nair recently scored a double century for India A and he has a Test experience including triple century, he is likely to get a chance. Because of this, Sudarshan is likely to be out at present.
