KK Venugopal, KK Venugopal, the Chief Test Pilot Group (Retired) of HAL’s fixed wing aircraft in Bangalore, took a Test flight of Tejas MK 1A in April 2024.
A few weeks after Operation Sindoor, a new aircraft is going to come to the Air Force fleet. The Air Force will get Tejas MK 1A, the next generation aircraft of indigenous fighter aircraft Tejas, at the end of this month. After the final process of the flying test is completed, it will join the fighter fleet.
In February 2021 with Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL), 83 Tejas MK 1A aircraft were dealt with 48 thousand crores. Their delivery was to be held in March 2024. But the delivery was averted about a year and a half due to the delay in the supply of the engine F404 IN20 from the American company General Electric (GE).
According to HAL sources, new engines have started getting from this march. By the end of this year, 12 Tejas MK 1A aircraft will be handed over to the Air Force.
Tejas will replace MIG-21, MIG-27 and Jaguar With the strong intentions of Make in India and self -reliant India, the government has signed a total of 180 Tejas MK 1A with HAL. The first consignment is 83 aircraft while in the second batch, 97 aircraft have been dealt with for 67 thousand crore rupees.
Tejas will replace MIG-21, MIG-27 and Jaguar out of the Air Force. A fleet of the Air Force should have 42 aircraft, which are 30. In a decade, Tejas will join more than 350 jets of MK 1, MK 1A, MK 2 in the Air Force. The first Tejas MK can be found in 2 years 2028-29.
Air Force chief expressed displeasure over delay Air Chief Marshal Amarpreet Singh expressed displeasure over the delay in purchase and delivery of defense system on 29 May. Air Chief Marshal said at the Annual Business Summit of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII )-
Timeline is a big issue. Operational preparations are affected due to non -completion of defense project in time.
