‘I will kill your father …’ Sunil Shetty was threatened in 90s, Hero taught the dreaded gangster a lesson like this

New Delhi: The story of Bollywood’s complication with Mumbai underworld in the 90s has been well known for the last several years. Sunil Shetty recently told about a stressful encounter with gangster Hemant Pujari. During the conversation, the actor recalled a time when he received a threatening call about his father. However, Sunil threatened him saying that he has more money.

On The Lalantop Podcast, Sunil said, ‘Shetty was a bit aggressive in Mumbai at that time as he was a suppressed group. Therefore, there was a constant tension between Shetty and the underworld. Since I am also a Shetty, gangsters used to think that the Shetty community would give them money and if they threaten or harm me, they will bow down. He further said, ‘Hemant priest used to call me continuously. He and his men used to call me my personal number, my office, my manager, everywhere. He felt that if he managed to intimidate me, the other Shetty would be scared on his own and will give him the money for forcibly recovery.

Sunil further said, ‘Once, he called me and said that he would shoot my father and kill him when he would go for a morning walk. I could not tolerate it any more and abused him, silenced him. I told him that I know more about him as he knows about me. And I also have more money and connections than that, so he should not play with me. He said, ‘The whole thing was recorded and I later approached the police. Then he advised that I should not lose my temper on such gangsters and should not abuse, because they will not think twice before pulling the trigger.

Subsequently, he is ready for action and comedy combinations with Welcome to the Jungle, Son of Sardar 2 and Most Aweded Hera Ferry 3. However, after the news of Paresh Rawal being out of the project, the third installment of the Cult comedy has been in trouble.
