Before giving on phone repair, definitely adopt some important security tips. Know how you can save your photos, bank details and documents from being hacked.

When your smartphone goes bad, most people give it to the service center repair. But do you know that giving a phone can put your privacy in danger? Most of the users in India store scan documents like not only personal photos but also bank details, Aadhaar cards, passports. If this data goes into the wrong hands, then it is not a big deal to be misused.

Backup data: Before phone repair, do backup on Google Drive, iCloud or any other cloud service. If the display or storage is changed during the repair, all your data may be deleted.

Log out of all accounts: Log out with all the accounts like Gmail, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram, Paytm, Google Pay. Apart from this, disable fingerprint and face ID, so that no one can access your phone.

On the guest mode: Android users can turn the guest mode before giving the phone to the repair center. For this, go to Settings> System> Multiple Users> Add Guest. This will hide your personal files and the technician will get limited access.

Remove SIM and Memory Card: Remove the SIM card and SD card before giving on phone repair, because they can save photos, messages and contacts. Leaving them in the service center can prove to be a risk for privacy.

Encry data: If you want more security, then encryp the phone. For this, go to Settings> Security> Encrypt Phone. This will also make it difficult for the technicians to reach the data.

Factory reset (but carefully): If the phone’s display or battery is bad, it is better to reset the factory before giving the phone. But do not forget to take a full backup before doing so. By doing this, all the data of the phone is deleted.
