2. Change the condition of the body- According to the American Langs Association, the way you sit or lie down affect the process of mucus coming out of the body. Lying straight can accumulate more mucus at night. Instead, put additional pillows and keep your head and shoulders high and sleep. Even during the day, it is helpful in removing the mucus sitting directly or leaning forward. This is a very easy and medicated remedy that provides relief in breathing.

3. Avoid smoking- According to research published in BMC Journal, smaller-like structures called lung cilia are damaged by smoking. These structures work to remove mucus. When they do not work properly, then mucus starts to accumulate more. Therefore, distance from smoking is most important. Apart from this, dust, pollution, perfume and strong chemical smells of the house can also increase mucus. Therefore, fresh air, clean environment and smoke-free environment is beneficial for health.

4. Taking steam or bathing with hot water- Taking steam is a traditional and extremely effective way to remove mucus. The moisture in the air increases when bathing with warm water or taking steam of hot water, which makes the mucus thin and easily comes out of cough.
