Anuj Gautam, Sagar: Madhya Pradesh is burning these days. While the fire of the sun and the heat stroke have imprisoned the common people in the houses, the working workers are still sweating. The mercury has reached beyond 45 degrees across the state including the ocean and the real test of the workers working on the scorching earth and the real test of desi jugaad has been made.
Govind Prajapati, who works on a brick kiln, says, “The heat is now deadly, but the work will not stop. Drink water throughout the day, but Sattu, onion, mango emerald, jaggery and Matha keeps strength in the body.” His eyes are not with the heat of the hot sun, but the glow than expected.
Onion-jaggery pair became shield
Kamlesh Patel, who performs Paladari daily, tells that Sattu comes out after drinking in the morning and walks with onion and jaggery in tiffin. “Sometimes Maheri is also built in the house. All this is a solution to save our life in summer.”
Ankit Prajapati believes that there is no break of indigenous foods. “I consume mangoes and raw onion especially in summer. This does not cause water lack in the body, and also avoid dizziness in summer.”
Morning and evening routine
The workers have changed their work schedule. “Now we work soon in the morning and then only after evening. In the afternoon, the body is unable to bear it,” Ankit says.
