Historic Day for Indian Archers in World Championship: Men’s compound team waves tricolor in world archery, won historic gold

New Delhi. The Indian men’s compound archery team created history by defeating France in the ongoing World Archery Championship final in Guangju, South Korea to win their first gold medal in the World Championship. The Indian trio of Rishabh Yadav, Aman Saini and Prathamesh Fajy defeated France 235-233 in a thrilling title match. India had registered an impressive victory over Australia, America and Türkiye in their journey up to the finals.

Earlier, the mixed team pair of Jyoti Surekha Venam and Rishabh Yadav lost 155–157 against the Netherlands in the final at the mixed event. Due to which the Indian pair had to be satisfied with the silver medal. The last time this team won the gold medal in the World Archery Championship.

The 23 -year -old Rishabh then won the title of Male Compound Team with Saini and Prathamesh. After the third set, the score was on a par of 176-176, after which the second seeded Indian team scored 59 points in the decisive phase, while France could score only 57 points. After this, India created history.
