Tarlok Chauhan becomes Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court
Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan of Himachal High Court will be the Chief Justice of the Jharkhand High Court. It was recommended in the meeting held by the Supreme Court Collegium today (Monday). Apart from Jharkhand, the deployment of Chief Justice has also been recommended in Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Patna High Court.

Tarlok Chauhan has also played the role of acting Chief Justice twice in the Himachal High Court. He was born on 9 January 1964 in Rohdu in Shimla district. He had his early education from Bishop Cotton School in Shimla. During this time he was also the captain of the school.
Graduation with Honors from DAV College Chandigarh became a lawyer in the year 1989 after obtaining a law degree from Punjab University Chandigarh. Lala Chhabil Das attended the famous Chamber of Senior Advocate. Starting advocating in the state High Court, he mastered all areas of the law.
Stayed in many positions, court friends were also made
Apart from State Electricity Board Limited and State Civil Supplies Corporation, many boards, corporations, financial institutions, public and private companies, educational institutions and cooperatives and legal advisors of various departments. Became members of various Lok Adalats.
Court friends were appointed by the High Court for cooperation in many important cases related to hydro projects, ropeway, violations of environmental laws, ban on plastic and tobacco products, implementation of solid waste management projects and determination of road construction policy in Himachal Pradesh.
Became Permanent Judge of High Court in 2014
On 23 February 2014, he was made a permanent judge of the High Court on 30 November 2014 after additional judges of the High Court. From 5 May 2014, he worked for the welfare and interest of the children of Bal / Girls Ashram, Himachal’s Hospital, Mental Health and Old age homes in Himachal Pradesh, as the chairman of the Juvenile Justice Committee of the High Court.
Apart from participating in various national and international conferences, from 21 February 2020 to 23 February 2020, the Supreme Court on the subject of “Judiciary and Changing World” was part of the conference in New Delhi, in which he was one of the 3 High Court judges.
From 13 to 17 May 2019, he was part of the International Teaching Exchange Program on “Correction of Care for Children and Security Services” in Romania. He is the first judge of the High Court to attend international conferences abroad.
He was also the President of Judicial Academy
Tarlok Chauhan was also a member of the Governing Council from 12 November 2016 and the Executive Council of Himachal Pradesh National Law University Shimla. He was the President of the Judicial Academy from 18 November 2018 to 13 March 2020. Being the head of the Computer and E-Court Committee in the High Court, they are credited with reaching new heights in the High Court as well as the subordinate courts to new heights.
