On May 29, the Haryana government will conduct a major security exercise called “Operation Shield” in all 22 districts of the state. This exercise will start at 5 pm. The purpose of this practice is to increase the state’s emergency preparations and strength to respond.

It will show the situation of air strikes, drone attacks and other war. This is being done on the instructions of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India so that security can be strengthened.

Emergency system will be tested
Additional Chief Secretary of Home Department, Dr. Sumita Mishra said that the purpose of this practice is to examine the emergency system of the state. This includes improving coordination between civil administration, security forces and local communities and identifying those weaknesses, so that any crisis can be given quick and correct help.
Who will join
The exercise will also include Civil Protection Warden, Registered Volunteers, and Youth Organizations like National Cadet Corps (NCC), National Service Scheme (NSS), Nehru Yuva Kendra Sangathan (NYKS) and Bharat Scouts and Guides. All these together will help in emergency preparations.

There will be a 15 -minute blackout
During the operation shield, there will be a 15 -minute controlled blackout around the important places from 8 pm to 8:15 pm. This will not include essential emergency services like hospitals, fire stations and police stations.
What will happen in practice
During this time sirens will be played to respond to air strikes and drone attacks. Also, the communication hotline of the control room built with the Indian Air Force will also be tested.
