Harikrishnan of Chennai achieved his first Grandmaster Norm a few years ago and then achieved the second norm at the Anduzar Open in Spain.

Srihari LR was the 86th Grandmaster of India and now Harikrishnan has achieved this feat.

Mohanraj remembered the time when he could not prepare a grandmaster for more than a year. He said, ‘In two months, the academy has prepared two Grandmasters. For the last two-three years, it looks very good because of the grandmasters I have been training continuously.

He said, ‘It is a matter of great relief for both me and Harikrishnan because they had lost two consecutive Grandmaster Norms.’

Mohanraj remembers the time when Harikrishnan, who has become an international master, came to his academy to get guidance to become Grandmaster.

He said, ‘He probably came to me in 2022 in late October. He was a very strong international master. At the same time, more international masters started coming to regular camps in my academy. Harikrishnan was one of the early people. Then gradually about 10-15 more people like him also joined.

Mohanraj said, ‘I would say that his biggest quality is the skill to calculate him, but when I was training him, I ensured that he was also good in’ dynamics’. Then gradually he became good in the strategy too.

Mohanraj believes that Harikrishnan should now target the rating of 2550-2600.
