A trainee pilot of Indigo Airlines in Gurugram, Haryana has lodged an FIR under the SC/ST Act on 3 people, including the flight captain. The trainee pilot alleged that she was insulted in a full meeting and called caste words.

It was said with the word caste-race- You are not fit to fly, you go back and stitch the sleepers (you are not capable of flying plane, go back and slippers).
After a meeting in Gurugram, the trainee pilot complained to the police about the incident in Bangalore. The Karnataka Police has sent zero FIR and sent it to Gurugram. After this, investigation has been started by registering a case at DLF Phase-1 police station of Gurugram. However, the airlines have described these allegations as false. It has also said to cooperate in legal action.

- Earlier the offices used to make ethnic comments: 35 -year -old Sharan A, who lives in Shobha City Centurini in Bangalore City (Karnataka), said in a complaint to the police that he is a trainee pilot in Indigo Airlines. He comes from Adi Dravidian society, which is in the Scheduled Caste category. He alleges that he was made at the workplace several times during duty.
- Gurugram came to the meeting, insulted: The victim said that on 28 April 2025, he was called at a meeting at Emar Capital Tower-2, Sector-24, Gurugram. In the meeting, he was treated derogatory about caste. Tapas Dey, Manish Sahni and Captain Rahul Patil attended the meeting made caste comments on him. This hurt his dignity.
- Insulted about the bag-mobile exit: The victim told that before the meeting, Tapas Dey asked to leave my bag and mobile out in a derogatory and condemnable way. During the meeting, the three called caste -based words. Discriminated and threatened. I was shown down. Castes and derogatory comments were made to others.
- I told me- you are not even worth licking my shoe: The victim told- Addressing me with caste words in the meeting, it was said that you are not worth flying the airplane, go and sew the slippers. You are not even worth licking my shoe. Calling the word caste, I was told that how dared to sit in front of me and ask for clarification? Your position is not even to become a watchman in this building and you are asking for clarification?
- Complaint to CEO-Ethics Committee: The victim said that the incident not only hurt his self -esteem, but also raises questions on the basic principles of equality and respect at the workplace. He also complained to the CEO of Indigo and the Ethics Committee, but no action was taken.
- If the company did not take action then the police made Complaint: The victim said that when no action was taken against the accused at the company level, he decided to complete the police. He says that he is in depression with this behavior with him. Therefore, the police should take action against these accused.
Gurugram police bid- will call the accused for questioning In this regard, Inspector of DLF Phase-1 police station, Rajesh Kumar said that on Monday, the people concerned will be called to join the investigation and further action will be taken in the case. Those who have been accused are working in the post of Senior in Indigo.
According to the police, the three have been booked under Section 3 (1) (R), 3 (1) (s) of the SC/ST Act. These streams are related to the publicly humiliated or intimidation of a person of SC or ST. Apart from this, Section 351 (2) of BNS (criminal intimidation), Section 352 (intentionally humiliating, so that peace is disturbed) and section 3 (5) (collective intent) have also been installed.
Airlines denied allegations At the same time, in this case, the airlines issued a statement, calling the allegations of the trainee pilot false. The Airlines spokesperson has said- IndiGo follows the zero-tolerance policy against any kind of discrimination or oppression. IndiGo refutes these baseless claims and maintains its rules of fairness, honesty and accountability. We will be fully supported in the investigation as per the requirement.
