Maharashtra police said on Thursday that an FIR has been registered against a senior government doctor for directing the Korona patient in 2021.
In a viral audio clip, accused Dr. Shashikant Deshpande is heard asking another partner Dr. Shashikant Dange to kill a female patient. However, the woman was recovering from the disease. Udgir police have registered a case of Deshpande on 24 May.
Dr. Deshpande was then Additional District Surgeon at Udgir Government Hospital in Latur and Dr. Dange was posted at a Kovid Center. The complainant says that his wife was then admitted to the hospital, so he thought it right to remain silent.

In the clip, Dr. Deshpande can be heard saying, ‘Do not let anyone go inside, just kill the woman.’ Complainant Daami Azimodin Gaussuddin alleges that his wife Kausar Fatima was admitted to a Kovid center in Udgir in 2021.
His wife was admitted there for 10 days. On the seventh day, he was sitting near Dr. Dange. At that time, Dr. Dange received a call from Dr. Deshpande. He placed the phone on the speaker. During this, Dr. Deshpande inquired about the empty bed.
When Dr. Dange told that no bed is empty, Dr. Deshpande said, ‘Kill the Peshndend of Devi. You are accustomed to dealing with such people. ‘ Daami alleged, ‘Dr. Deshpande also abused caste during the conversation.
I was in shock but thought it better to remain silent at that time because my wife was undergoing treatment. The audio clip has surfaced on May 2, 2025. The complainant says that after listening to all the things in the clip, his religious sentiments were hurt, after which he lodged a police complaint.
