On the night of May 2, there was a stampede among the crowd in the Devi Larai Jatra in Shirgaon, North Goa.
During the Sri Larai Jatra in Shirgaon, Goa, 7 people have died in a stampede on Friday evening. The news in the media has come on Saturday morning. More than 40 are injured in the accident, out of which 20 are said to be critical. Relief and rescue operations continue. The number of dead may increase.
On receiving the information of the incident, Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant reached the North Goa District Hospital and Bicholim Hospital and met the injured. The injured are still being brought to the hospital from the scene from the scene.
On Friday evening, a large number of devotees gathered to join the Jatra. Then there was a situation of chaos among the crowd, after which there was a stampede. According to initial reports, the accident occurred due to lack of adequate arrangements for crowd management.
Shri Larai Jatra is a major Hindu religious festival to be held in Shirgaon village of Bicholim taluka, North Goa, dedicated to Goddess Lairai. Jatra takes place every year in April or May. Thousands of devotees from Goa, Maharashtra, and Karnataka come here. Jatra was held from the evening of 2 May to the morning of 3 May. Meanwhile, the accident took place.

The injured are constantly being brought to the hospital by ambulance.
The injured are undergoing treatment at Goa Medical College (GMC) and North Goa District Hospital.

A large number of devotees arrived from Goa, Maharashtra and Karnataka to join Shri Larai Jatra.
Shri Larai Jatra takes place in Shirgaon, Goa every year in April or May.
